Steps:
- Chain selection
- Numbering
- Naming
- Select the continuous and longest chain of Carbon atoms but it should involved all the Carbon atoms which are attached with multiple bonds (double or triple bonds).
2.If more than one longest chains are present select the chain with maximum branches.
3.Numbering should be started from that side which is nearest to the double or triple bond.
4.If double or triple bond is present in the middle of the selected chain , numbering should be started from that side which is nearest to the branch.
5.If there are more than one double or triple bonds , numbering should be started from that side which is nearest to the second double or triple bond.
6.The names of all the branches should be written first with their locater numbers.
7.The names of Alkenes or Alkynes should be written last with their locater numbers along with the positions of double or triple bonds.
